Birth has a way of refining us—sometimes gently, and sometimes through fire. My own journey into motherhood was nothing like the idyllic homebirth I had envisioned. I prepared my heart, my space, and my spirit for a peaceful birth at home… only to find myself facing complications that demanded a different path. When preeclampsia began to shadow my late pregnancy, I realized my story would unfold in a hospital instead of my living room. But what I discovered was this: birth is sacred no matter the setting, and the strength God places within us shines brightest in the moments we never planned for.
During pregnancy, I battled debilitating gallbladder issues—pain that came in waves, exhaustion that stole my breath, and uncertainty that made me question my body. I labored not only to bring my child into the world, but also to hold onto the parts of my birth experience that mattered most: being heard, being respected, and feeling supported. Even when the setting changed, my voice did not. My story became a living reminder that a mother’s strength isn’t defined by where she gives birth, but by how fiercely she loves through every curve in the road. Postpartum was its own wilderness. As a single mother, I faced long nights, deep healing, loneliness, and a body recovering from more than birth alone. Breastfeeding, which I had hoped would come naturally, brought complications and tears—yet I fought for it with everything I had. And by God’s grace, I continued. Today, I am still breastfeeding my toddler, a daily reminder of resilience, bonding, and the beauty that comes from never giving up. These experiences—raw, humbling, victorious—shaped the midwife I am today.
I know what it feels like when your dreams shift. I know what it means to walk into birth with both courage and fear. I know what it is to pray through pain, rise through exhaustion, and rebuild yourself in postpartum. And because of this, I advocate fiercely for families-- • those who long for the sanctuary of a home birth, • those who must birth in a hospital but want to carry the same peace and intention with them, and • those who want to feel held, supported, and honored through every step. My trials became my training ground. My labor became my ministry. And my heart now beats to help others step into their own birth stories—feeling prepared, empowered, and never alone.
This is my calling. This is my authenticity. This is Citrus Midwifery. Where sacred birth meets gentle hands, and where every story—planned or unplanned—can be redeemed with love, education, and unwavering support.
Where I Started
My journey into midwifery began in 2012, sparked by a deep love for birth and a passion for empowering families through knowledge, support, and compassionate care. From the very beginning, I knew that birth was more than a clinical event—it was a sacred transition, a place where women deserved to feel seen, heard, and held. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to understanding every layer of the birth experience. I’ve studied, trained, observed, and immersed myself in the beautiful and often complex world of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Education is at the core of who I am—not just for my clients, but for myself. I believe the best midwives never stop learning, and I strive to continually grow in ways that elevate the care I provide.
Because of this, I’ve shaped my practice around improving community outcomes and ensuring families have access to informed, respectful care—no matter where they give birth. Alongside my home birth practice, I run a clinic devoted entirely to comprehensive prenatal care for parents planning hospital deliveries, bridging the gap between traditional midwifery support and the realities of modern medical birth. Where I started is not where I stand today—but every step, every birth, and every lesson has strengthened my calling: to prepare families, protect their choices, and honor their birth stories with the gentle, evidence-based, Christ-centered care they deserve.
My Educational Background
My path to midwifery has always been woven with curiosity, devotion, and a deep desire to understand the sacred design of the human body. Long before I ever caught a baby, I was a student—captivated by biology, community health, and the miracle of new life.
Where the Journey Began I started my studies in the sciences, earning my Associate Degree in Anatomy & Physiology with an emphasis in Microbiology in Yucaipa, California. It was there, in quiet classrooms and late-night lab sessions, that I first fell in love with the intricacies of the human body—how every system works together, how life begins, and how beautifully women were created to birth.
Understanding People, Not Just Physiology Wanting to understand not just the body but the families and communities it belongs to, I continued on to earn my Bachelor of Science in Social Science from Cal State San Bernardino. This broadened my perspective and strengthened my commitment to improving birth outcomes, especially for underserved populations who deserve compassionate, evidence-based care.
Where Study Became Calling Eventually, my heart led me to the high desert of Taos, New Mexico, where I completed my formal midwifery education at the National College of Midwifery. There, surrounded by seasoned midwives and the stories of generations of birthing women, I stepped fully into the work I was created to do. My training blended hands-on experience with rigorous academic study, preparing me to serve families with both skill and soul.
Certifications & Specialized Training My learning never stops. I continue to expand my knowledge so I can support families safely, naturally, and holistically. • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certified • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified • Certified Herbalist • Certified Birth Doula • Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist • Specialized Breech Birth Training Each certification and training deepens my ability to walk alongside families—whether through natural home births, supportive prenatal care, or navigating challenging situations with confidence and grace.
